Iron is vital in our respiration. It combines with protein in order to create what is known as haemoglobin. Haemoglobin is the way our bodies get their oxygen. It is carried to all the different parts of our body by the red blood cells and that’s how we get the energy we need in order to perform what we do on a daily basis.
At the same time, you have to remember that iron is also used by our immune system. Iron is also essential if you want your liver to function correctly. The reason why liver, even the liver you eat taste mineral like is because iron is stored in the liver. As you know, the liver is used to ensure that fat and other products are properly metabolised or expelled. If you do not have enough iron in the system your liver finds it harder to carry out its functions in which case it ends up being unable to properly synthesize or release unnecessary chemicals.
The symptoms which come with lack of iron are expected given the work that the chemical does in our bodies. For one, you will feel tired and rather weak. You will probably also find that it’s harder for you to stay warm in the cold seasons and you are likely to find a decrease in your overall stamina, not to mention that you are more likely to get sick.
